Remote Learning FAQ

  • What is the goal of this remote learning?

Our efforts will try to help learners whenever and wherever they can learn.  Using digital tools can help us connect and allow for learning at any time, even if we’ve asked our teachers to be available during certain hours, the learning activities can be done whenever you have time and access.

What might my student be using?

During our early efforts, our goal is to ensure students and parents become familiar with the learning platforms and tools while we gain skills, too. It is likely that your teacher has contacted you about what tool their class is using.

    • Schoology, an online platform, to deliver and keep content files (Upper Elementary, Grades 6-12)
    • Clever, a portal to many different applications with only one login
    • Zoom, an interactive meeting tool, for support and instruction
    • Other programs such as Class Dojo, Bloomz, and Seesaw may be supported by your teacher.

Where do I turn for help with technology?

We have provided some easy to follow "How To" tutorials for several of the platforms teachers may be using. Click on each below to download a PDF with troubleshooting information.

Sometimes the technology systems go down, but you can check the status. Click on one of the apps below for a performance status update:

If you're still having trouble logging in, please contact our support team by filling out this form found here.

How do I install an app on a CHSD iPad?

To install an app on a Cape Henlopen School District issued iPad, open the Self Service application on the iPad and search for the application you need to install. Click here for a YouTube tutorial on how to download an app on a CHSD iPad.

What is the expectation on time for my student's learning?

    K - 5 Expectations
Students should expect to work on their skills 15 - 35 minutes a day. The time frames on the schedule vary by age appropriateness, (i.e. kindergarten lessons maybe 15 minutes where fifth grade may be up to 30 or 35 minutes.)

    6 - 8 Expectations
Student materials will be loaded to Schoology and available for students on demand. Teachers are also offering office hours or hours of support should students have questions or need help.

    9 - 12 Expectations
Student materials will be loaded to Schoology and available for students on demand. Teachers are also offering office hours or hours of support should students have questions or need help.

What if I do not have Internet access?

In addition to the free services provided by community providers, there are currently 4 Cape Henlopen School District sites that have Wi-Fi available for student use.

    • Cape Henlopen High School - Lewes
    • Rehoboth Elementary School - Rehoboth
    • Milton/HO Brittingham Elementary Schools - Milton
    • Love Creek Elementary School – RT. 24

If a student is using a District device, then they should continue to connect to CHSDwireless.
If a student is using a personal device, they should connect to CapeDriveUp

    Remember:
We’re trying our best to provide Internet Service to the community. Please stay in your vehicle within the designated areas (pictured below) while accessing the internet. Please try to park within the green areas for the best possible connection.
