October Upstanding Students

The October Upstanding Students are eleventh grader, James Zuber and twelfth grader Victoria Maull.

James Zuber was nominated by multiple teachers including Mr. Cawthern for his heroic efforts that resulted in the saving of a man’s life.  At the Homecoming game, James noticed that a man was lying on the ground in the parking lot.  The man had a cardiac emergency and James stayed with the man and called 911, waiting with him until medical help arrived.  James’ efforts have been chronicled by various news outlets and the man came to school to personally express his appreciation to James.

Victoria Maull was nominated along with another student by Mr. Burkhart.  Victoria and her friend have gone out of their way to support struggling freshman band members.  During a confrontation involving a 9th-grade band member, Victoria and her friend made sure to set a positive example on how to handle disagreements.  The two continued to stay in contact with the 9th-grade student involved to make sure they felt supported and cared for.
