Sussex Consortium Holds Ceremonial Beam Signing

Lewes, DE, June 17, 2019 – The Cape Henlopen School District Board of Education joined the Director of Capital Projects and Superintendent Bob Fulton, to hold a ceremonial beam signing at the new Sussex Consortium School located on Sweetbriar Road in Lewes, DE. The steel beam is located in what will be the pool area of the school. Others in attendance to sign the beam were members of the Fearn-Clendaniel team, RY Johnson, Supervisor of Facilities, Principal and Assistant Principals of the Sussex Consortium, and Assistant Superintendent Jenny Nauman.

“This is now the third beam signing we’ve held for projects within the District in the last 2 years,” said Brian Bassett, Director of Capital Projects for the Cape Henlopen School District. “We’re very excited about the opportunities the new Sussex Consortium will provide students from throughout Sussex County, and the beam signing is a way to represent how close to the finish line we are with the project.”

The beam will not be visible once construction is finished, however, the notes of encouragement and well wishes from those who attended will forever be a part of the new building.  “The beam signing continues to be a special way for us to commemorate our new buildings,” said Bob Fulton, Superintendent of Cape Henlopen School District. “The Board Members and administrators in attendance have made a positive impact on our District and in the lives of the Consortium students. We look forward to seeing the program’s continued success for many years to come in their new facility.”  The Sussex Consortium will be open to students in the Winter of 2020.
