MES Hosts PBS Dance Party
Winter break provides a time for staff and students to relax and recharge before jumping back into the school year. At the beginning of January, upon the students return, Milton Elementary students and staff spent time refreshing their memory on school rules and their kindness initiative they started at beginning of the year.
“In each homeroom and related arts class, students took time to revisit rules and expectations,” said Gloria Ho, Milton Elementary Social Worker. “Each class had a sheet with an image of a battery, and the goal was to fill or ‘recharge’ that battery the first few weeks back.” The reward for refilling their batteries: a dance party!
On January 9 students were rewarded with a special “Dance Party” hosted by DJ Kurt Warren of JKA Entertainment. During the assembly students celebrated their recharged batteries with dancing, singing and glow sticks! “All of the students and even the staff had a great time,” continued Gloria. “This was something the kids looked forward to, and it really motivated them to work hard and to continue to build on what they started the first half of the year.”
