Water Testing Initiative
-
In October 2022, with the support of a grant from the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Delaware Department of Education (DOE) with support from the Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) began a sampling initiative to identify the levels of lead within the drinking water consumption points in every public school in the state. In December, DOE announced it had contracted with the private firm, Batta Environmental Associates, to conduct this testing.
As part of the initiative, Cape Henlopen School District is working with the Department of Education and the Division of Public Health to conduct water testing to ensure safe drinking water is in each of our schools. This testing began on March 8, 2023, and will take place through March 21, 2023*. All test results and any necessary mitigation efforts will be posted to this page and shared with individual school buildings as they become available.
*The previous end date for testing was March 16. Due to scheduling changes with Batta, the new end date is March 21, 2023.
