Schoolwide Title I Program

The purpose of Title I is “To provide all children significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education, and to close educational achievement gaps.” Title I is the largest Federally funded program in education designed to help students having difficulties with reading by providing funds for extra academic support. The funding is based on each school's povery level, and currently all five Cape Henlopen elementary schools receive Title I funds.
Funds are used for the following
- Resources to increase parent involvement in education-Parent Involvement in Title I Schools, Board Policy #902
- Supplemental curriculum materials
- Additional teacher support
Parental Rights: All parents/guardians/families of children in Title I schools have the right to request and receive from the District's Office of Human Resources timely information regarding the professional qualifications of their children's classroom teachers.
