Meet the Superintendent

Dr. Jenny Nauman

Dr. Jennifer E. Nauman (Jenny) has served as Superintendent of the Cape Henlopen School District since July 2025, where her focus is on ensuring that all students thrive through equity, inclusion, and access to a high-quality curriculum. Guided by a belief in the power of relationships and community, Dr. Nauman is committed to humanizing the role of superintendent, leading with transparency, empathy, and purpose to strengthen the Cape Promise of Excellence, Equity, and Responsiveness for every student, every classroom, every day.

Jenny joined the Cape Henlopen School District in 2008 as Assistant Principal at Rehoboth Elementary School. She later served for eight years as Principal of Richard A. Shields Elementary School in Lewes, which earned the prestigious 2013 National Blue Ribbon School Award under her leadership. In 2016, she was recognized as Delaware’s National Distinguished Principal and received the Terrell H. Bell Award for Outstanding School Leadership from the U.S. Department of Education.

From 2017 to 2025, Jenny served as Assistant Superintendent of the Cape Henlopen School District, where she oversaw curriculum, instruction, and leadership development. Her visionary and student-centered approach earned her the 2025 Delaware Assistant Superintendent of the Year Award, her second time receiving this honor.

A University of Delaware Summa Cum Laude graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education, Jenny also holds a Master’s Degree in School Leadership from Wilmington University, National Board Certification, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Wilmington University.

Beyond her professional achievements, Jenny is deeply engaged in service to others, supporting the Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Foundation, and partnering with community organizations such as the Minority Community Liaison Committee to promote inclusivity and advocacy for all learners.
