K-5 Enrollment Area Reorganization

  • Over the last several months, a committee worked diligently to update the Cape Henlopen School District boundary lines for the five elementary schools. This was done in an effort to balance out the enrollment numbers at all of the schools, and to also lessen the number of students attending Love Creek Elementary. Options were presented and discussed at several Board of Education Meetings in October and November, and ultimately a model was approved by the Board of Education on November 16, 2020.  These changes will take effect in the 2021-2022 school year. It’s important to note that any student enrolled in Spanish Immersion or the Cape Accelerated Program (CAP) prior to the change, is guaranteed a spot in those programs at their new building.

The navigation panel to the left contains additional information including a list of neighborhoods affected by this change, images outlining the boundary lines by elementary school, boundary line descriptions, and the DOE School Locator that has also been updated to reflect the changes taking place in the Fall of 2021.
