In a powerful show of community and commitment to wellness, a group of Sussex Consortium educators from across the Cape Henlopen School District teamed up to prioritize their physical and mental health. The group recently participated in weekly fitness sessions at Sea Barre Fitness, at the Lewes location. Teachers are not only participating in high-energy Spin and Barre classes but also stepping up to lead the classes as well.

During class, teachers have the opportunity to unwind, get moving, and connect with one another outside the classroom. With both Barre and Spin on the schedule, participants are benefiting from a full-body workout that builds strength, boosts cardiovascular endurance, and supports mental clarity.

“It’s inspiring to see our teachers leading by example, not just in the classroom, but in wellness as well,” said Dr. Audrey Dempsey, Supervisor of Elementary Education and Early Learning. “This initiative is about more than just fitness, it’s about building a supportive, healthy community so that our staff can feel their best both inside and outside of their schools.”
