On May 4, fourth-grade students at Rehoboth Elementary School had the opportunity to participate in classroom activities related to Law Day. This engaging learning experience is made possible through a partnership with the Delaware Law Related Education Center (DELREC) and directly supports the school’s social studies curriculum.

Law Day provides students with an opportunity to explore the foundations of the legal system and better understand the role of laws in everyday life. Through interactive, hands-on activities, students were able to build knowledge of civic responsibility, the judicial branch, and the importance of the rule of law in society.

“This is a great opportunity for our students to connect what they’re learning in the classroom to the real world,” said Mrs. Christina Gallagher, fourth grade teacher at Rehoboth Elementary School, and coordinator of the event. “The experience helped our students develop a deeper understanding of their role as citizens while sparking interest in future careers in law and public service. It also created opportunities for critical thinking, while helping them to gain insight into how the judicial system functions.”

This experience aligns with the mission of law-related education, which is to prepare students to be informed and active participants in a society governed by laws. Rehoboth Elementary is proud to offer meaningful, real-world learning opportunities that connect classroom instruction to practical experiences. The school appreciates the continued support of community partners like DELREC in helping bring these valuable programs to students.
