Milton Elementary Student Raises Funds to Support Families at Ronald McDonald House

Wyatt Wilkinson

Cape Henlopen School District is proud to recognize Wyatt Wilkinson, a fourth-grade student at Milton Elementary School, who recently hosted a successful fundraiser to support families staying at the Ronald McDonald House over the holidays. Through the sale of rosemary salt, Wyatt raised enough money to provide four families with a one-week stay at the House.

The fundraiser holds special meaning for Wyatt.  Shortly after he was born, he and his family spent time at the Ronald McDonald House while he received care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). “I wanted to give back to the families who need help, just like my family did when I was born,” Wyatt said.

By combining his entrepreneurial spirit with compassion, Wyatt not only raised funds but also shared a powerful message about kindness, empathy, and community service. His efforts will directly support families who face medical challenges, providing them with a safe and comfortable place to stay during difficult times. His idea for Rosemary Salt was inspired by his grandmother and their love of cooking together.

“We are incredibly proud of Wyatt for using his personal experience to help others,” said Jason Scott, Assistant Principal at Milton Elementary. “His generosity and determination show what one student can do to make a real difference in the lives of families in need.”

Milton Elementary encourages students to pursue creative ways to give back to the community and applauds Wyatt for his remarkable achievement.
