Milton Elementary Student Earns Second Place in Sussex County Conservation District Poster Contest

Cape Henlopen School District and Milton Elementary School are proud to celebrate the achievement of third grader Braden Rion Starr, who earned second place in the Sussex County Conservation District Poster Contest in the grades 2–3 category.

The annual poster contest is held in conjunction with the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) and challenges students to creatively interpret the national theme, “Home is Where the Habitat Is.” This year’s theme highlights the importance of protecting and enhancing habitats that support wildlife and natural resources in local communities.

Braden’s poster stood out among entries from across Sussex County for its creativity and thoughtful representation of the theme. The artwork demonstrated an understanding of how healthy habitats contribute to a thriving environment for people and wildlife alike.

As a second-place winner, Braden received an Amazon gift card in recognition of her accomplishment. “Opportunities like this allow our students to explore environmental stewardship in meaningful and creative ways,” said Mr. Jason Scott, assistant principal of Milton Elementary School. “We are incredibly proud of Braden for earning this recognition and for representing Milton Elementary so well!”

Milton Elementary School congratulates Braden and thanks the Sussex County Conservation District for providing educational programs that encourage students to learn about conservation and environmental responsibility!
