Mariner Middle School Spanish Immersion Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Mariner Middle School Spanish Immersion Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Students in Mariner Middle School's Spanish Immersion program embraced Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15–October 15) with creativity and cultural pride. As part of their celebration, students designed informative one-pagers and brochures, which are displayed on the bulletin boards throughout the school, to share knowledge about the rich histories, traditions, and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx communities. To bring even more color and meaning to the space, students also crafted papel picado, brightly colored, intricately cut banners that now hang from the school ceilings. These traditional decorations not only add festive beauty to the school but also symbolize both the fragility of life and the joy found in community. Together, the projects created a vibrant and meaningful tribute that honors culture, fosters learning, and connects students with traditions that continue to inspire across generations.
