Love Creek Elementary School welcomed families, students, staff members, and community organizations for its Second Annual Day of Connection, an event designed to strengthen relationships and connect families with valuable local resources in a welcoming and engaging environment.

Organized and hosted by Love Creek Multilingual Learner Teacher, Julia Schmidt, the event brought together members of the school community for an evening centered around connection, support, and celebration. Families had the opportunity to visit community vendor tables and learn about services and programs available throughout the area, while students enjoyed a variety of activities including bounce houses, games, face painting, and bracelet making.

“Our goal with the Day of Connection is to create an opportunity for families to come together in a positive and supportive environment while also learning about the many resources available within our community,” said Schmidt. “It was wonderful to see so many families, staff members, and community partners engaging with one another and building meaningful connections.”

Hamburgers, hot dogs, beverages, and ice cream were all offered free of charge to attending families, and was served by the cafeteria manager, Shirley Osborne. Throughout the evening, students in the school’s immersion program delivered cultural performances that highlighted the diversity represented within the Love Creek Elementary community. The performances celebrated the many backgrounds and traditions that help make the school unique.

Community vendors also provided interactive educational opportunities and family resources during the event. Hands-on CPR demonstrations, activities at the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) table, and additional informational resources gave families practical tools and support while encouraging engagement and learning.

“The Day of Connection is a powerful example of what happens when schools, families, and community partners come together with a shared commitment to supporting children,” said Equetta Jones, principal. “At Love Creek, we believe that strong relationships are the foundation of student success. This event not only connected families with valuable resources, but also strengthened the sense of belonging, partnership, and care that defines our school community. We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed their time, talents, and support to make this day so meaningful for our scholars and families.”
