Little Vikings Preschool Hosts Largest Family Engagement Night To Date

Little Vikings team at Family Engagement Night

On Monday, November 10, the Little Vikings Preschool opened its doors for its biggest Family Engagement Night to date, when students and families gathered for an evening of learning, play, and community connection. Families were welcomed with a delicious dinner, creating the perfect atmosphere for conversation and togetherness before diving into a night full of exploration and discovery.

The event began with a lively story time demonstration, where teachers modeled how to bring books to life at home through expression, movement, and interactive questions. This engaging start set the tone for an evening focused on empowering families with simple, effective ways to support their child’s early learning.

Following story time, families were invited to explore six themed classrooms, Fall, Winter, Transportation, Dinosaurs, Polar Animals, and Nutrition. Each space offered hands-on activities aligned with the preschool’s curriculum, allowing children and parents to experience learning through play. “Throughout the stations, students and families were able to sort colorful leaves, build with blocks, create dino art, and even experimented with pretend snow,” said Dr. Elizabeth Cherico, principal of the Little Vikings. “Each activity aimed to provide opportunities to build foundational skills in literacy, math, science, and social development.”

Representatives from First State Birth to Three were also on-site, sharing valuable early learning resources and developmental guidance with families. Their presence reinforced the event’s focus on early childhood growth and the importance of family engagement in education.

The evening wrapped up with smiles, laughter, and new ideas for learning at home. Families left inspired by the creativity of the themed classrooms and the connections made with teachers and community partners.

“The success of this Family Engagement Night highlights just how powerful collaboration can be when families and educators come together to support young learners,” Dr. Cherico added. “At Little Vikings it’s our goal to prioritize meaningful family involvement and experiential learning opportunities that continuously strengthen the bridge between home and school.”
