Teachers of the Little Vikings Preschool 2-Year-Old program welcomed families from across the Cape Henlopen School District to an exciting community playdate held at the Five Points Playground in Lewes.

With several gatherings planned for throughout the year, the most recent was held on September 22. The event created an opportunity for engagement where families could connect, play, and build relationships with teachers and each other. Children were able to explore the playground, joined in group games, and enjoyed quality time spent outdoors.

The playgroup supports Little Vikings’ ongoing commitment to fostering strong home to school partnerships and promoting early social connections that help young learners thrive.

“These gatherings give families a chance to feel connected and supported, while the kids build confidence through play and interaction,” said Jennifer O’Connell, Little Vikings teacher and coordinator of the 2-Year old playgroups. “It’s a wonderful way to strengthen the sense of community that makes our district so special.”

Little Vikings Preschool will host similar community-based gatherings throughout the year, each designed to strengthen family engagement, belonging, and collaboration across the district’s early learning community. In addition to the 2-year-old playgroup, the preschool also hosts a Viking Village Playgroup for children who reside in the Cape Henlopen School District and are between the ages of 3-5. The Viking Village Playgroup takes place at the local public libraries one Thursday a month, while the 2-year-old playgroup takes place once a month on Mondays. All playgroup dates (the 2 year old, and the 3-5 year old) can be found on the Little Vikings website at www.capehenlopenschools.com/viking-village-playgroup.
