Students at Lewes Elementary School recently had the opportunity to participate in the Americanism Elementary School Poster Contest sponsored by the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR). The contest encourages students to explore American history through creativity and artistic expression while developing a deeper appreciation for the nation's heritage.

The opportunity was made possible through Mr. Chuck Smolka, President of the Lewes Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, who informed the school about the contest and encouraged student participation.

Following the competition, Mr. Smolka visited the school to recognize all participating students and present certificates for their efforts. Special recognition was given to Campbell Love, whose poster was selected as the school's winning entry.

Lewes Elementary and the Cape Henlopen School District extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Smolka and the Lewes SAR Chapter for providing students with this meaningful educational experience. The contest not only celebrated artistic talent but also inspired students to engage with important themes in American history and citizenship.
