Lewes Elementary School Brings Energy and Talent to the Stage with Annie Jr. Production

Ariana Sheridan (Annie) and Abigail May (Molly), run through the number Maybe, a song that Annie sings while trying to envision what her parents are like.

Lewes Elementary School will be delighting audiences with its spring musical performance of Annie Jr., showcasing the incredible talent, dedication, and teamwork of its student performers. The production will bring this beloved story to life with vibrant musical numbers, engaging performances, and impressive stage presence from the young cast.

Students have spent the last several months preparing for the performance, learning choreography, memorizing lines, and developing their vocal skills. Their hard work is evident each time they take the stage, capturing the spirit and optimism of Annie Jr. while demonstrating confidence and enthusiasm throughout the show.

The production is led by directors Hadley Fulton and Veronica De Bartolo, who have been guiding students through the rehearsal process and are helping them to bring out their best both individually and as an ensemble. The performance is also supported by music teacher, Maysi Tims who is the musical director, and Hannah Petterson, a retired Lewes Elementary teacher who has created all of the props, costumes and set pieces.

“We are incredibly proud of this group of students and the hard work they have put into Annie Jr.,” said Fulton. “Being able to inspire our students to do challenging things like standing in front of an audience has been a rewarding experience. They have shown amazing growth throughout this process. We are excited to share the show with families, friends, and the greater Lewes Community.”

“We love creating rewarding and inspiring experiences for students so that they can find their passion and gifts from an early age,” said De Bartolo. “It is such a privilege to help them explore the arts and start finding their own voice. It’s been inspiring to see their creativity shine and their confidence grow with every rehearsal and performance.”

The spring musical not only provides students with an opportunity to shine in the performing arts but also foster important life skills such as collaboration, responsibility, and self-expression. Opening night of the show will be on Friday, April 24 at 7:30PM and there will be an encore performance held on Saturday, April 25 at Noon. Both shows will be held in the Cape Henlopen High School Theatre.
