Lewes Elementary Girls With Pearls Students Gain Career Insights from U.S. Air Force Major

Three of the Girls with Pearls members standing with Major Michelle Rogers are: Claire Dacheux, Azariah Whaley and Chloe Shugarbean

Students participating in the Girls With Pearls program at Lewes Elementary School recently welcomed a special guest who inspired them to think about leadership, service, and future career opportunities.

Major Michelle Rogers of the United States Air Force visited the group to share her experiences as a female service member and discuss the many career paths available within the Air Force. During her presentation, Major Rogers provided students with a firsthand look at military life, leadership, and the importance of perseverance in achieving personal and professional goals.

The students were especially excited to explore items that Major Rogers brought from her base and eagerly engaged in a question-and-answer session. Their thoughtful questions reflected a genuine curiosity about military service, aviation, and the wide range of careers available to women in the armed forces.

The visit held special significance for the Lewes Elementary community, as Major Rogers is the niece of Lewes Elementary School Social Worker Lovell Hemphill, who helped coordinate the opportunity for students.

Girls With Pearls is designed to empower young girls through mentorship, leadership development, and positive role models. Major Rogers' visit provided an inspiring example of determination, service, and achievement, leaving students with valuable insights and encouragement as they begin exploring their own future aspirations.

Lewes Elementary School extends its appreciation to Major Rogers for taking the time to invest in its students and share her experiences in service to our country!
