Lewes Elementary “Girls With Pearls” Program Inspires Future Leaders Through Local Partnerships

Students in Lewes Elementary School’s Girls with Pearls program recently had the opportunity to connect with local business leaders and gain valuable insight into future career paths during a special visit from entrepreneurs and sisters, Leanne Prosser and Nicole Miller.

During their visit, Ms. Prosser and Ms. Miller shared practical advice with students about discovering their passions and turning those interests into meaningful, lifelong careers. They encouraged students to reflect on their strengths and interests, beginning with an activity where each participant created a list of things they love and feel passionate about using newly gifted stationery.

From there, students were guided to think about how their skills and interests could translate into future career opportunities, reinforcing the importance of self-awareness, goal setting, and confidence.

Leanne Prosser and Nicole Miller brought a wealth of experience to the discussion. Nicole Silicato Miller serves as Vice President and Broker of Record at Silicato Commercial Realty and Development, while Leanne Silicato Prosser is Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the same firm, as well as CEO and Designer of Leanne Prosser Handbags. Together, they are also co-owners of Duck Duck Common, a curated vintage home store located in Long Neck, Delaware. In addition to their business ventures, the sisters are active community leaders, serving as directors of The Great Futures Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting local youth in need.

Their message of perseverance, creativity, and community involvement resonated strongly with the students.

“Our goal with Girls with Pearls is to empower young girls to recognize their strengths and believe in their potential,” said club advisor and paraeducator Brittany Hoeller. “Having successful local women like Leanne and Nicole share their journeys helps our students see what’s possible and inspires them to dream big.”

Throughout the school year, the Girls with Pearls program has welcomed a variety of guest speakers and community partners. Students have also benefited from instruction, donations, and visits from Maureen Eschbach of Aquamarine Boutique and fitness instructor Kelly Serpico, further enriching the program’s focus on confidence, wellness, and personal growth.
