On Thanksgiving morning, students and staff from Cape Henlopen High School Kind Voices Club came together to show their gratitude to the community’s first responders and health care professionals by preparing and delivering homemade holiday meals. The effort ensured that those working the holiday received a warm, complete Thanksgiving dinner, along with fresh-baked pies made by Cape’s Culinary Arts students.

Recipients included the Lewes Police Department, Rehoboth Police Department, Lewes Fire Department, AtraCare, Delaware State Police Troop 7, Sussex County Paramedics, the Sussex County Emergency Call Center, and Bayhealth Urgent Care. Volunteers delivered meals directly to each location, offering appreciation and support to those spending the holiday in service to others.

Cape’s Culinary Arts program baked a variety of pies in the school kitchen, while additional students and families prepared side dishes to accompany the turkey dinners. In total, 120 meals were assembled and distributed.

The school extended thanks to Cypress Trees, Sysco, and the Bencivenga family of Lewes for generously donating the turkeys and containers used for the meals, as well as to all families who contributed food. Students also created Thanksgiving cards for first responders, raising more than $100 through the sale of the cards.

“This event truly highlighted the strong spirit of service within the Kind Voices Club as well as the entire Cape Henlopen community,” said Nancy Ashby, teacher and club advisor. “It was a wonderful day that provided a meaningful way for our students to give back during this holiday season. Thank you to everyone who played a part in making it a success!”
