Cape Henlopen Teacher Julie Dominick Represents Sussex County on Statewide Educator Panel

Cape Henlopen School District is proud to recognize high school teacher Julie Dominick for serving as a featured panelist during the “Your Voice Matters” educator discussion hosted by (DKG) on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Early College School at Delaware State University.

The event brought together educators from across Delaware to engage in meaningful conversations focused on the realities, challenges, and successes of today’s classrooms. DKG, an international professional society for women educators, organized the panel discussion with the goal of listening to authentic educator perspectives and using those insights to help shape future conversations with state leaders, legislators, and educational stakeholders.

The theme of the panel, “Your Voice Matters,” centered on ensuring that classroom teachers feel heard, valued, appreciated, and supported for the critical work they do each day with students.

Julie Dominick proudly represented Sussex County and alongside fellow panelists Dr. Paige Morris from representing New Castle County and Madison Christiansen from representing Kent County. Together, the three educators provided diverse perspectives from classrooms across the state of Delaware.

Throughout the discussion, panelists openly shared the “glows, grows, and concerns” they experience in education today. Topics included strategies and practices that are working well in classrooms, barriers impacting student learning, educator workload, teacher retention, and the importance of supporting teachers through meaningful professional development and collaboration.

The panel also explored ways organizations like DKG can advocate alongside educators and work more closely with state legislators and educational leaders on issues that matter most to teachers and students throughout Delaware.

Participants emphasized the importance of ensuring that educators have a seat at the table when decisions impacting classrooms are made. The event fostered thoughtful dialogue surrounding how schools, communities, and policymakers can better support teachers while improving outcomes for students statewide.

Julie Dominick’s participation highlighted the outstanding educators within and the district’s continued commitment to empowering teacher leadership and elevating educator voice. Her willingness to share authentic classroom experiences provided valuable insight into the realities of teaching and learning while helping advocate for the needs of educators across Delaware.

The event served as a powerful reminder that the voices of educators matter and that meaningful collaboration between teachers, educational organizations, and state leaders is essential in shaping the future of education for all students.
