Cape Henlopen School District Honors Student Mentors for Their Dedication and Impact

Cape Henlopen School District honors the community mentors.

The Cape Henlopen School District recently celebrated its outstanding mentors for their dedication to supporting, encouraging, and inspiring students throughout the 2025-2026 school year.

Through the Connecting Generations Creative Mentoring program, community members volunteer their time and talents to build meaningful relationships with students, providing guidance, encouragement, and a trusted connection that helps students succeed both academically and personally. These mentors serve as positive role models, offering support that fosters confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging.

This annual recognition celebrates the commitment of these individuals who have made a lasting difference in the lives of students by consistently showing up, listening, encouraging growth, and helping students navigate challenges and opportunities throughout the school year.

"Our mentors provide something that every student deserves, a caring adult who believes in them and is invested in their success," said Stephanie Mastrangelo, District Mentor Coordinator. "The relationships they build help students feel seen, valued, and supported. We are incredibly grateful for the time, compassion, and dedication our mentors bring to this important work."

Mentorship is a key component of the district's efforts to support the whole child by fostering strong connections and creating positive school experiences. Research consistently demonstrates that students who have trusted adult mentors are more likely to feel engaged in school, develop stronger social-emotional skills, and achieve greater academic success.

"One positive relationship can have a profound impact on a student's life," said Dr. Amanda Archambault, Director of Teaching and Learning. "Our mentors exemplify the caring culture that exists throughout Cape. By investing their time and energy into supporting students, they help create pathways for growth, confidence, and future success."

The Cape Henlopen School District extends its sincere appreciation to all mentors who dedicated themselves to supporting students this year. Their commitment reflects the district's mission of providing excellence, equity, and responsiveness while ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive.
