Cape Henlopen School District and CHSSA Finalize Contract for 2025-2029

The Cape Henlopen School District and the Cape Henlopen Support Staff Association (CHSSA) are proud to announce the successful completion of contract negotiations for the upcoming term. The agreement was reached efficiently and amicably within two days, highlighting a strong partnership built on open communication, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to students and staff.

The approved agreement includes fair and competitive compensation and a continued investment in professional development.

“This was one of the most productive and positive bargaining processes we’ve experienced,” said Dr. Jenny Nauman, Superintendent of Cape Henlopen School District. “Our support professionals are the backbone of our schools, and this contract reflects the district’s appreciation for their critical role in student success. It was such a pleasure working with them to reach this agreement.”

Union representatives echoed that sentiment, applauding the district’s approach to collaboration.
“We’re grateful for the respectful dialogue and the willingness on both sides to come to the table with solutions,” said Drew Messick, CHSSA President. “This contract is a win for our members, our students, and the entire school community.”

The agreement, approved by both the union membership and the Board of Education, went into effect on July 1, 2025, and will remain in place through June 30, 2029.
