Cape Henlopen High School Students Selected for Delaware All-State Band

2026 All State Band Members

Several Cape Henlopen High School student musicians recently earned the prestigious honor of participating in Delaware’s All-State Band, joining top performers from across the state for an intensive and rewarding musical experience.

Students were selected through a competitive audition process to participate in the multi-day festival, where they rehearsed and performed under the direction of distinguished guest musicians. Many of these conductors are accomplished collegiate-level directors, providing students with the opportunity to learn and grow in a highly advanced musical setting.

The Junior All-State Band worked under the direction of Dr. M. Joseph Fischer, an accomplished high school band director from Maryland known for his excellence in music education. Meanwhile, the Senior All-State Band had the unique opportunity to collaborate with renowned composer Michele Fernandez. In a rare and exciting experience, students performed one of Fernandez’s newest compositions, an unpublished work, giving them firsthand insight into contemporary music at the highest level.

Throughout the three-day festival, students participated in rigorous rehearsals, refined their technical skills, and collaborated with peers who share a passion for music. The experience culminated in a final performance showcasing their hard work and dedication.

“This is an incredible achievement for our students,” said Assistant Band Director Elly Rolfes. “Being selected for All-State Band reflects not only their musical talent, but also their commitment, discipline, and willingness to challenge themselves. Working with such highly respected musicians and performing new, high-level music is an experience that will stay with them for years to come.”

Cape Henlopen High School congratulates these talented students on their accomplishment and commends them for representing their school and community with pride and excellence.
