CAPE Academic Power Enrichment Club Celebrates Student Growth and Strong Fall Semester Success

The CAPE Academic Power Enrichment Club at Rehoboth Elementary, recently concluded a highly successful fall semester, demonstrating measurable academic growth and meaningful progress for participating students through targeted reading and math support.

During the fall session, 53 students participated in the CAPE Club, receiving small-group instruction focused on strengthening foundational academic skills. While three students received math-only services, the program’s impact on literacy was significant. By the end of the session, 68 percent of participating students increased at least one reading level, with 26 students gaining one level, seven students gaining two levels, and one student advancing three reading levels.

“The program’s success is credited to the dedication and collaboration of CAPE educators, who provided instruction during morning and afternoon sessions throughout the week,” said fifth-grade teacher and coordinator of the program, Tina Windsor. “The enrichment club emphasizes creative instruction, individualized support, and consistent progress monitoring to meet students where they are academically while building confidence and enthusiasm for learning.”

In addition to measurable academic gains, the fall session identified several students who may be ready to graduate from the program following continued support, reflecting the long-term effectiveness of the CAPE model. Planning is already underway to strengthen data collection for the upcoming winter math session through the use of pre- and post-assessments to further track student growth.

The semester concluded with celebratory activities, including student recognition events, to honor progress and effort. The CAPE Club community also gathered to reflect on the semester’s accomplishments and express gratitude for the educators whose commitment and passion drive the program’s success.

“Looking ahead, the Club will continue with winter and spring sessions, offering sustained academic support and enrichment opportunities,” Windsor continued. “With a strong foundation in place, the program remains focused on positively impacting student learning outcomes and helping change the trajectory of academic success for its participants!”
