Technology Agreement

Below are the agreements that parents and students of Cape Henlopen School District agree to when being issued a Cape Henlopen School District device.

All students and parents must agree to follow the terms and conditions stated in the Technology Device Agreement. This contract must be signed and returned prior to computer/device access being granted. Parents/students please note any violation of this contract that results in inappropriate use of technology and/or damage of technology will result in a school consequence.

Requirements for Use of Technological Resources

The use of school system technological resources, such as computers and other electronic devices, networks, and the Internet, is a privilege, not a right. Before using the Internet, all students must be trained about appropriate online behavior and sign the State of Delaware Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).

Anyone who uses school system computers or devices must comply with the requirements listed below:

  1. I understand that any and all equipment acquired by students of the Cape Henlopen School District through purchases of district, state, federal or grant funding is considered district property.
     
  2. I understand that I am responsible for the use of this equipment for instructional purpose while enrolled at Cape Henlopen School District. I understand the responsibilities and guidelines for iPad use in school.
     
  3. I will not modify the configuration of district equipment. All modifications (excluding apps) should be done by a district technology representative. Users may not install or use any Internet-based file-sharing program designed to facilitate the sharing of copyrighted material.
     
  4. I have been provided information for obtaining the optional insurance to cover the cost of a lost or stolen iPad from Smart Tech Insurance. I am further aware this insurance must be paid by me with the district named as the insured recipient. However, I understand if I do not carry insurance, I am liable for the full replacement cost of the device.
     
  5. I agree that all equipment acquired is under my care, custody, and control. I will be responsible for associated fees should repair or replacement be needed for damages to my assigned device(s) or equipment.
Typical Fees

$30  for Damaged iPad(or Screen)

$17  for Damaged Cable or Block

$30  for Replacement iPad case for Grades K-4

$75  for Replacement Keyboard Case

$299 for Replacement iPad (Lost/Stolen)

6. I am aware that restitution for repairs or replacement must be made within the current School Year, unless an approved repayment plan is established.

7. I understand that upon the end of my attendance and/or enrollment at the Cape Henlopen School District, that I am required to return all district property. If the equipment is not returned within 5 business days, I will be liable for the replacement cost of the district provided technology.

8. I have read and signed the Districts Acceptable Use Policy (BP 111: Technology Protection Measure and Internet Safety Policy).

9. I am aware that connecting a personal device to the K12 network is a violation of the State of Delaware Acceptable Use Policy. Violations will be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with the Cape Henlopen School District Student Code of Conduct. The BYOD network is provided for connectivity of such devices where warranted.
