Cape Henlopen Action Teams (CHAT) Initiative
The Cape Henlopen Action Team’s purpose is to drive curriculum and instruction to the next level of Standards driven implementation. Its purpose is to create a more personalized, student-centered approach to learning in order to transform patterns of teaching practice to be more standards aligned. The Cape Henlopen Action Teams task will be to implement standards driven instruction, monitor levels of implementation, and provide ongoing feedback for deeper implementation toward routine use.
Goals
-
District Goals
- Articulation and alignment of standards-based curriculum and instruction (Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment + Literacy + Mathematical Practices - CIA+L+MP)
- Design, implement and use a comprehensive assessment system. Use data/evidence to guide decision making and planning for professional learning and to monitor progress toward meeting goals (CIA+L+MP). (Plan, Do, Study, Act – PDSA)
Building Administration and CHAT Goals
- Monitor and support implementation of standards-based curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Use data/evidence to guide decision making and planning for professional learning (PDSA) and to monitor progress toward meeting goals (CIA+L+MP). What do we celebrate? What adjustments do we need to make?
Teacher's Goals (PLC and Classroom)
Curriculum
- Fidelity of implementation of standards-based curriculum
Instruction
- Use of student-centered, engaging, high-quality instruction
- Use of technology to support learning
Assessment
- Use of common assessments and other classroom data to inform and adjust instruction (PDSA)
- Use of on-going formative assessment with feedback tied to the standards (PDSA)
Literacy (Social Studies, Science, ELA, CTE)
- Implementation of literacy standards in the content areas with a balance of literary and informational texts across the content areas
- Supporting claims with evidence in writing and speaking
Mathematical Practices (Math and Science)
- Teaching mathematical content through the standards of mathematical practice
