CAP Program Information

  • Course Requirements:

Students are expected to be motivated, engaged, reflective, and active learners. Keeping up-to-date with assignments and daily work is a must. Although absences are understandable, they should be kept to a minimum, in order to maximize instructional time. Should absences occur, the student is required to complete any missing work in a timely manner. The curriculum is differentiated both in content and pace, based on the needs of the gifted learner. Questions of clarification and wonders from students are highly encouraged as well as collaboration with peers.

    Grading Policies:

    • 40% of grade = Minor Grades (20%Homework/20%Classwork)
    • 60% of grade= Major Grades: Tests (to be weighted 2x a quiz), Quizzes, and Major Projects.

Expectations are that all assignments are complete and submitted on time. Should assignments be submitted late, they will be accepted for up to 2 weeks, for a late grade.

    Rules & Procedures:

    • Although there may be daily homework assigned, most homework has been designed to be self-paced. Students will be given a packet connecting to their unit of study and a deadline (usually one week) will be announced for each section of the packet coordinating with the current instruction. Homework will be posted in the classroom. It is the responsibility of the student to write down the homework assignment in their agenda books at the end of each class.
    • Homework should be handed in at the beginning of the class it is due.
    • IMPORTANT POLICY: Showing work on math assignments is very important!!! Students are required to show work on all classwork/homework assignments and assessments. If work is not included, the assignment may be returned to the student for them to complete. If lack of showing work becomes habitual, the student may be given a late grade.
