Mrs. Julie A. Derrick

Board of Education Vice President
Area "D" 2022-2026

Julia (Julie) Alexander Derrick was elected in 2017 and is the Area D representative on the Board. She grew up in Dover and graduated from Caesar Rodney High School. Julie now resides in Rehoboth with her husband Jim, a Rehoboth native and a Cape graduate, and their three children. Julie has a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Virginia where she played the flute and sang in an all-female a cappella group, The Virginia Belles. Julie began her career in the music and art licensing industries before earning a master’s degree with dual certification in both elementary and special education from Wilmington University. Inspired to provide a positive indoor play environment for children in our local area, Julie and Jim opened Shell We Bounce Play Center for children in 2014. Most recently, the Shell We Bounce business has relocated and expanded to provide indoor physical exercise and activities for both children and adults with Shell We Bounce Trampoline Park and Entertainment Center. Julie served on her neighborhood’s board and spearheaded the addition of a playground. She was also an active member of the MOMS Club of Coastal Delaware during her children's younger years. Julie's focus while on the school board is to provide high-quality and inclusive education for each child, with an emphasis on health and wellness. Julie and Jim's three children happily attend Cape Henlopen Schools.  Let's go Cape!! (Update 08/2019)
