8th Grade U.S. History
In 8th grade US history, content is covered using a thematic approach to history from early colonization to the Reconstruction period. We will discuss events and court cases that have helped shape American policy and culture. We will use a variety of sources including historical documents, letters, articles, artifacts, and multimedia. Students are required to maintain a 70 percent or better.
There will be multiple opportunities for students to achieve success in U.S. History. Grades will be given for classroom assignments, quizzes, tests, projects and current events. Assignments not turned in on the due date will be assessed a 10 percent penalty the first day it is late, 20 percent on the second day, and 30 percent on the third day. Assignments will not be accepted after the third day unless there are extenuating circumstances, which will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
