Our PTO meetings are held the last TUESDAY of every MONTH at 6:30 p.m. in the LIBRARY.

Meetings are attended by parents, your principal and/or assistant principal and teachers to serve as a platform for ideas and coordination of events to benefit Shields Elementary school children.  All are welcome!
 

 

 

Can't make it to a meeting? Here are 10 things you can do instead:

  1. Devote 1 hour a week to mentoring a student (with HOSTS program prepared lesson plans)
  2. Be a sponsor and/or participant in our Dolphin Dash 5K Run and Family Walk.
  3. Take a lunch duty shift in the cafeteria.
  4. Register your grocery store cards.
  5. Help with E.B.S. activities like ice cream parties.
  6. Cut out Dolphin Dollars from sheets.
  7. Help maintain/landscape Shield's grounds (donate mulch or flowers...) 
  8. Help prepare classroom materials for teachers.
  9. Clip and donate "Box Tops" year-round.
  10. Walk or jog with your child to raise money during annual Shields Tech Walk. 

 

PTO Events 2009-2010

Fall Fundraiser - Fundraiser to establish foundation of funds for PTO events. Parents can help tally or distribute orders.

Fall Event  - Fun, themed event for all Shields school children to meet and socialize. Parents can monitor a booth or activity or help with setup or cleanup.

Holiday Shop  - Creative, "secret" way for kids to get inexpensive presents for loved ones. Parents can help students select gifts and work within their budgets.

Book Fair  - Allows parents the ability to visit school and buy age-appropriate books. Parents can help students select books.

Restaurant Family Night - Shield's families have dinner together.

Teacher Appreciation Week  - PTO plans gifts/activities for Shields teachers and staff. Parents can donate food items or drinks. 

Assemblies - Assemblies sponsored by PTO held throughout the year.

Funland Night  - "Carnival" style event for families to attend. Prize drawings also held.
