Parent Rights
Under the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001, parents have the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers who instruct their children.  Federal law allows you to ask for certain information about your child's classroom teachers and require the district to give you this information in a timely manner.  Specifically, you have the right to ask for the following information about each of your child's classroom teachers:
  • Whether the Delaware Department of Education has licensed or qualified the teacher for the grade levels and subject matter he or she teachers;

  • Whether the Delaware Department of Education has decided that the teacher can teach in a classroom without being licensed or qualified under state regulations because of special circumstances;

  • The teacher's college major, whether the teacher has any advanced degrees and, if so, the subject of the degrees; and

  • Whether teachers' aides or similar paraprofessionals provide services to parents' children and, if they do, their qualification.

 Adults Visiting Our School
 The following guidelines should be followed:
  • Prearrange your visit with the teacher.

  • Please go directly to the school office.  Bring identification, sign in, and obtain a visitor's badge to wear during the school or office visit.

  • Please turn off cell phone.

  • Visitors may not disrupt the classroom, classroom procedures, or learning activities.

  • Visitors may not intimidate school staff.

  • Food and beverages should not be brought into the classroom unless prearranged with the teacher.

  • Visitors should not bring other children into the classroom unless prior arrangements have been made with the teacher.

  • Because visitors and volunteers are sometimes exposed to confidential matters, it is expected that the rights of both students and school personnel be respected by holding matters strictly confidential.
  We welcome all visitors and volunteers!
