![]() National Junior Honor Society , or NJHS is a worldwide organization that consists of many chapters in middle schools (grades 6-8). Selection is based on five criteria: citizenship, service, leadership, scholarship and character. H.Y.P.E. - Helping Youth Persue Excellence After School Homework Program Welcome to H.Y.P.E., an academic assistance program funded by the Cape Henlopen School District. The primary focus of the program is to assist students with homework and other assignments. Students meet from 3-5pm Mondays and Wednesday immediately after school. A district bus provides transportation home. Delaware certified teachers offer academic assistance and monitor the completion of homework assignments and projects. The program is not a replacement for parental monitoring of homework completion. It is designed to help students who may need additional help with concepts. Students receive a snack prior to completing assignments. They will also participate in a Let's R.A.P. (Report Academic Progress) discussion each day. The purpose is to encourage students to think about daily skills and preparations needed to be successful in the classroom. Students will follow the Cape Henlopen Code of Conduct at all times. Students who do not obey the code consistently will be asked to leave the program. If you are interested or have questions please contact Ms. Lisa Morris at LMorris@cape.k12.de.us Math League - 7th & 8th grades Beacon Middle School Math League practice sesions are usually held twice a month. Yearbook is an all year activity. They meet every Thursday after school for a few hours and design, edit, and work on the yearbook and yearbook activities. They are planning several yearbook events this year including a car wash. The 2007-2008 yearbooks will be completely student created and produced. From taking the pictures to editing them and creating the layout of the pages. Presently we have students from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade representing their grades and working hard on the yearbook. Students will also start to learn how to use Photoshop and other digital photo editing as well as photographing techniques to catch that once in a lifetime photo! Students interested should see Mr. Lenhart in Room 401 or contact him at clenhart@cape.k12.de.us
